Devotional:  What Is A Christian

    What is a Christian?  

    Acts 11:19-26 - The Church in Antioch - the first recorded Gentile church.

    What would a Christian say the definition of a Christians is?  What would the world say the definition is?

    The word Christian is used three times in the New Testament.
            Acts 26:28
            1 Peter 4:16
            Acts 11:26

    From Acts 11:19-26, their traits were
            they lived in harmony
            they lived for others, they took care of others

    Christians in Antioch:
    1. Every person is saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ
    2. They were growing in their faith
    3. They were servants
    4. They had a consistent testimony

    Christians today are for the most part fulfilling the first three, but how about the 4th (consistent testimony)?

    Exodus 20:7 - the third commandment - you shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.

    This is more than just swearing - it is also our walk, not just our talk.

    What should we call ourselves today? You decide.

    One definition for Christian is a servant of our Lord Jesus Christ.
