How I came to have an Accountability Partner
Men’s retreat at LeTourneau this past November.
God’s Holy Spirit spoke to my heart about getting back into an accountability relationship.
God put Rory on my heart.
            I began praying about it.
I crossed the threshold by picking up the phone.

    What is an accountability partner?

    Proverbs 27:17
    •       Picture two blades coming in contact with one another.
    •       What good is a dull tool?
    •       Accountability partners help sharpen one another for serving the Lord, serving their families,
           serving others.

        Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
    •       A partnership – I got your back and you got mine.
    •       If you fall I will help you, if I fall you will help me.
    •       Accountability partners serve one another.

        Galatians 6:1-2
    •       Accountability partners help restore one another without judgment (gently) and keep one another
           honest and on track.

        Hebrews 10:24
    •       Consider – be thinking about it and just do it.
    •       Be more loving.
    •       Serve others.
    •       Accountability partners challenge one another.

        1 Thessalonians 5:11
    •       Encourage not discourage.
    •       Build into one another.
    •       Accountability partners help build one another up spiritually.

Why do I need to be accountable?
            Sins
            Weaknesses
            Shortcomings
            Decisions
            Experiences

How do I find an accountability Partner?
            Start with prayer
Make a list of other men – not women.
            Look for someone …
  • You can TRUST (honest, caring, open, non judgmental)
  • You can RELATE to (similar interests, experiences, stages in life)
  • Who is not afraid to ASK YOU TOUGH QUESTIONS

How should I structure the time with my accountability Partner?
  • Open in prayer
  • Be completely open and forthcoming with what is on your heart, and in your mind.
  • Listen to one another
  • Be a friend and counselor
  • Encourage one another
  • Guide each other based on the Bible's teachings
  • Close in prayer
  • Do not let it end there:  Be involved in your accountability partner's life and available to him.

It is incredible how God hooks you up with the right person.
Cross that new threshold.... give it a try.
