Devotional:  Iron Sharpens Iron Update
by Bob Brinthaupt

    June 2nd, 2007

If you haven't been to one of the past few NMIC Men's Ministry meetings, you are missing out on some good
food for breakfast. The Care Team has been putting out an awesome spread for the past three meetings. What
a way to start the day off - food and fellowship!

    Iron Sharpens Iron
Bob Brinthaupt updated us on the Iron Sharpens Iron conference he and Bill Dykstra attended in Boston three
weeks ago. This event is looking to branch into the Rochester area. We are following up with them to see what
are their requirements and expectations to be a host - maybe bring this event to LCC.

This conference had several keynote speaker sessions including Steve Farrar and then there were several
breakout session where you choose a topic/speaker of interest. One of the nice features of the format was that
each speaker came up during the general sessions and gave a few minute overview on their breakout session.
This helped to determine which session would be a good fit to attend. Both Bob and Bill mentioned switching
sessions from what they thought they would attend from reading the titles. NMIC has purchased the audio CDs
from this conference and they are available from Bob if you are interested in them. Here are the titles of the
    breakout sessions:

Advanced Technology and the Threat to Your Family (Rick Schatz and Rick Kardos)
How to Get Off the Standard Manhood Conveyor Belt Before It's Too Late (John Bell)
    Intentional Family Leadership (Steve Farrar)
Mentoring Men to Mentor Other Men (Douglas Fombelle)
Money on Loan From God (Tom Redmond)
Overcoming the Christian Nice Guy Problem (Paul Coughlin)
Resurrecting Relevance: The Case for Cultural Apologetics (Michael Craven)
Standing in the Line of Fire (Chuck Brewster)
Christian Public Policy: What is It? (Kris Mineau)
    Dead Men Rising (Chuck Brewster)
Effective Fathering - Getting off the Sidelines and Into the Game! (Carey Casey)

    LeTourneau Fall Retreat
Dana Henderson has contacted LeTourneau for our fall retreat. We are locking in the November 16th date.
Please save this date on your calendars. The event will run from Friday evening including dinner, through
Saturday's dinner. To make this event a success, we need help in organizing this. This is an excellent
opportunity for us Men to further develop our leadership abilities. And if anyone is looking for another way to
further develop those leadership skills - attend or volunteer to help run the Leadership Summit.
