    "Anger"

    Anger forces transformation

James 1:19-20 Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man’s anger does not bring
about the righteous life that God desires.

    What makes you angry?
    •        Disappointment in yourself (golf)
    •        Disappointment in others (kids) (how must God feel about us then)
    •        Entitlement (I want what others have or what is mine)

Anger is a great sin because it violates God’s command to love.

    Is anger OK?
We are suppose to be more Christ like, more God like.
God gets angry (many occurrences, Moses and the generation not entering the promised land, Deuteronomy 3)
There is a righteous anger – anger is justified over injustice and sin
Are you angry over the right things?

Appropriate anger?  3 Questions to ask
    1.        Why am I angry?
    2.        Whose rights are being violated (mine or another’s)?
    3.        Is the Truth being violated?

    God’s anger traits
    •        The Lord is slow to anger (Numbers 14:18, Nehemiah 9:17, Psalm 86:15, Psalm 103:8, Jonah 4:2)
    •        He restrains his anger (Psalm 78:38)
    •        His anger lasts only a moment (Psalm 30:5)

Ephesians 4:26-27 In your anger do not sin. Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry and do not give the devil a
    foothold.
